Volunteers from OneKingussie are more than ready for this year's Christmas rush.

So far, an army of them have already provided over 200 volunteer days supporting Covid, Flu and

Booster clinics in the town.

Christmas is coming in Kingussie!
Christmas is coming in Kingussie!

And this year they will again be spreading plenty of much-needed festive cheer, arranging free Christmas meals for the district's senior citizens and others who may otherwise not get one on December 19.

With the generous support of Kingussie Medical Practice and Kingsteps Construction, people can choose to have a meal delivered to their door or go along to the Duke of Gordon Hotel for a sit-down meal.

After the success of delivering 84 meals last year, OneKingussie wanted to extend the offer to include as many eligible people as possible.

"Senior citizens in Kingussie, Insh and Kincraig are welcome to apply," a spokesperson for the community group told the Strathy.

"Booking is essential and forms are available at the Kingussie Coop – you can book online using the QR code on posters or contact OneKingussie@gmail.com.

"You can use these methods to request your own meal or nominate somebody who may benefit."

The message was clear: “We want to help make sure that our senior citizens know how much we appreciate them.

"It has been a tough year for many and it is important to spread some much needed festive cheer. People can choose to come along to the Duke or if they would rather, we will deliver a piping hot Christmas Meal straight to their door.”

Looking to the future OneKingussie, are working on a project to maintain publicly available defibrillators in Kingussie and Insh. In a recent check of defibrillators many were found to be faulty and three did not work at all.

OneKingussie volunteers will undertake regular checks and maintenance to ensure all the vital equipment for the community is available if it is needed.
