A video appeal has gone out from the owner of the dogs who were stolen from Kingussie last week.

"I feel like we've used every other avenue so far in trying to find Trigger," says owner Laura Meilandt Jessen in a broadcast from her kitchen table. "So I thought I would just pop on and be, like, 'Hiya!' She is part of the family, regardless of what anyone says about kennelled dogs, she is family and a big hole has been formed with her not being here for all of us.

"It's her birthday, which is a shame because we always do, like, doggie cakes and stuff for the dogs.

"I'm appealing to the person who's got Trigger, but also anyone who might be involved or knows her whereabouts because it's been a week now."

The great news, though, is that Maggie, the 11-year-old springer spaniel who disappeared with the three-year-old, is now safely home, having been found "dumped" on the streets of Crieff, in Perthshire.

The local organisation Missing Pets had been alerted and they, in turn, alerted the vet in the town.

"They were marvellous!" Laura told the Strathy today.

The family are delighted to have Maggie home, safe and sound, but where is Trigger?

"They scanned for the chip and called us. We informed police the next day as couldn't get through to 101."

Her husband, Torben, went down to Crieff to collect Maggie and bring her home to the delight of the children.

But the rest of the job is still to be done, hence Monday's social media appeal.

"Trigger is part of the family, regardless of what anyone says about kennelled dogs," Laura posts. "She is family and a big hole has been formed with her not being here for all of us.

"I'm appealing to the person who's got Trigger but also anyone who might be involvee or knows her wheereabouts, because it's been a week now and although Maggie is back – and is fantastic, and not traumatised and looks to have been well looked after – it's still a week too long that we've hot had her and we want her back safe."
