One casualty and building collapse at RTC in Inverness

Emergency services are in attendance at a serious road traffic collision in Grant Street in Inverness.

At least one person has been injured, and eye witnesses are fearful that a building is at risk of collapse.

The incident, that happened shortly before 9.15pm, saw a car crash into a building.

It is not known at this time what injuries were sustained in the accident, but at least one person was taken to hospital following the accident.

Emergency services said there was a casualty, and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it had used hydraulic cutting equipment at the scene.

It is understood that as well as at least one casualty, the building the passenger vehicle crashed into was damaged. Causing structural concerns about its safety.

One eyewitness told The Inverness Courier that it was "like a scene from a film, with rubble lying all over the road."

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We are in attendance at an incident on Grant Street in Inverness.

"We were called at 9.12pm to a road traffic collision of one vehicle."

Police, the fire service and the Scottish Ambulance Service are all in attendance.

The spokeswoman continued: "We used hydraulic cutting equipment at the scene."

A police spokeswoman added: "Grant Street is currently closed at it's junctions with Nelson Street, Telford Road, Pumpgate Street, Wyvis Place and North Kessock Street.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area and take alternate routes where possible."
