Aviemore's social calendar is another Covid casualty

Another of the strath's ever-popular festive occasions has fallen prey to the pandemic.

This time it's Aviemore's Christmas Eve procession, along with its fun and fireworks.

The Strathy has just heard that the organisers, Aviemore Community Enterprise Company, decided last night that the 2020 parade would have to be cancelled due to the ongoing Covid restrictions.

Carole Long, ACE treasurer, said: "The Christmas Eve Procession is a highlight of the year, and we had very much hoped that it would be possible to go ahead.

"However, we have to reluctantly accept that it is not possible this year.

"We hope to be back, better than ever, in 2021."
