NINE further Covid-19 infections have been detected across the NHS Highland region in the past day.

The health board area's cumulative number of confirmed cases increased from 1206 to 1215 when the latest daily update was published by the Scottish Government.

In the whole of Scotland, there were 832 positive tests recorded since yesterday.

The number of people in hospital with Covid-19 rose slightly – increasing 13 to 1239.

Of those, some 102 patients were in intensive care, a fall of three on Monday's total.

Sadly, some 39 further deaths have been reported amongst people who tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were 20 new cases detected in NHS Grampian, which saw its cumulative tally rise to 3655.

And NHS Tayside added 39 newly-confirmed cases to its total, which now stands at 4665.

But there was better news in NHS Eileanan Siar, NHS Shetland and NHS Orkney, which each recorded no new cases in the past 24 hours.

There have now been 75,187 confirmed Covid-19 infections across the whole of Scotland since the start of the pandemic.
