No fresh Covid-19 cases have been diagnosed in the NHS Highland area for the second day running.

The cumulative number of positive tests recorded in the region remained unchanged at 385 when the latest daily update was published this afternoon.

Across Scotland there were 43 new confirmed cases reported in the past 24 hours – of which 27 were in the NHS Grampian area as a result of Aberdeen's ongoing virus hotspot.

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, NHS Orkney, NHS Shetland and NHS Eileanan Siar all continued their long run of days without any fresh positive tests.

And NHS Tayside recorded just two cases, to take its cumulative total to 1803. There have been 18,890 positive tests for Covid-19 in Scotland since the start of the pandemic.

Nationally the number of people in hospital with the virus was down slightly – from 270 to 262 in the past day – while those in intensive care remained unchanged on four.

Scotland also extended its number of days without a confirmed Covid-19 fatality – with the country reporting no known deaths from the virus for the 22nd day in a row.
