NHS Highland refuses to say where registered coronavirus case is located

NHS Highland has refused to say whether the region's first coronavirus case is in Grantown, Caithness, Oban or somewhere else.

The health board has claimed patient confidentiality means it cannot state the location of the case.

NHS Highland serves around 320,000 people and its estate sprawls across the largest area of any health board in the UK at 32,500 square kilometres – almost equivalent to the size of Wales and Northern Ireland combined.

When asked for a precise location of the coronavirus case, a spokesman for NHS Highland said: "I can’t give you the specific location due to patient confidentiality."
