NHS Highland health board region records 73 fresh positive tests for Covid-19 coronavirus

SEVENTY-three further cases of Covid-19 have been registered across the NHS Highland area in the past day.
The region’s cumulative number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic rose from 8637 to 8710 when Public Health Scotland released its latest daily update.
The number of people requiring hospital treatment for the virus across NHS Highland stood at 14 last night – up two from Thursday’s update.
Another 1505 new positive tests have been recorded across the whole of Scotland in the past 24 hours – representing 6.4 per cent of all people tested during that period.
Some 502 people were receiving treatment for the virus in Scottish hospitals last night – a rise of 14.
Of those, 57 were in intensive care – a fall of one.
And sadly another six people who tested positive in the past 28 days have since died.
Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were 10 further cases of the virus in NHS Shetland (which now has a running total of 362), there was one new infection in NHS Orkney (for a total of 144) and two fresh positive tests in NHS Eileanan Siar (for 370).
NHS Grampian’s running total rose by 131, to 22,436.
And NHS Tayside’s overall tally increased by 87, to 26,075.
There have now been 337,471 known cases of the virus in Scotland since the pandemic first began.
More than 3.99 million Scots have now had their first vaccination jag, while more than 3.04 million have received their second.
