There were 13 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the NHS Highland area in the past 24 hours.

The cumulative number of cases in the health board area rose from 609 to 622 when the latest figures were published at 2pm on Saturday.

Across Scotland there were 714 new cases, with 11.5 per cent of newly tested individuals returning a positive result, continuing the rising trend in the percentage of tests being positive. A total of 17,518 tests were returned on Saturday.

There were no new cases in the Western Isles, which had recorded three new cases on Friday, or in Shetland, but Orkney recorded two new cases.

The majority of new cases were registered in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, with 290 new Covid cases, while NHS Lothian recorded another 113. NHS Grampian had 25 further cases confirmed.

Across Scotland, there were no new deaths of people who had recently tested positive for coronavirus, but 99 people were in hospital – up 10 from Friday – and 11 were in intensive care, the same number as yesterday.
