Five new Covid-19 cases are recorded in NHS Highland area

A further five new cases of Covid-19 have been detected across the NHS Highland region over the past day.

The area's cumulative total rose to 1339 when the latest daily update was published.

A total of 844 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded across Scotland in the past day.

A total of 1170 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19.

Of those in hospital, 95 were in intensive care.

A further seven who previously tested positive for the virus have sadly died in Scotland.

There was a total of 19,664 new tests for Covid-19 that reported results – 5.4 per cent of these were positive

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new positive tests in NHS Eileanan Siar, NHS Shetland or NHS Orkney.

NHS Tayside detected a further 52 cases, to take its cumulative total to 5453.

And NHS Grampian's running tally increased to 4263 with another 48 cases logged.
