Ember’s new round-the-clock buses to connect Inverness, Aviemore, Dalwhinnie and Edinburgh
It will finally be possible to return to the strath from the Highland capital late at night by public transport from next week.
A new round-the-clock bus service linking Badenoch and Strathspey with Inverness and Edinburgh is being launch next week.
Ember, which runs a fleet of EV buses and has launched several routes in the Highlands in recent months, has confirmed the launch of its latest route.
It will begin serving Inverness-Edinburgh - with stops in Aviemore and Dalwhinnie - from next Wednesday (November 5) and will initially offer seven return services each day.
But this will increase to 12 from November 26, with these running around the clock, seven days a week.
The service includes late night connections with the Highland capital with Inverness to Aviemore priced just one way from £5.10. for a single.
“We're launching a new route between Edinburgh and Inverness with stops in Perth city centre, Pitlochry, Dalwhinnie and Aviemore,” they said.
“Some of our services will also stop at Edinburgh Airport, providing a much‑needed airport service for Perth, Inverness and towns and villages in the Cairngorms National Park.
“This route will launch on Wednesday, November 5 and will begin with seven return services a day. We're increasing this to 12 return services on Wednesday, November 26. Services will run around the clock, seven days a week.
“It's just £18.10 for an adult single from Edinburgh to Inverness if you book online (whether you book weeks before or a minute ahead). You can book your tickets now.”
It could mean an end to extra expense for many revellers from the strath on a night out in the city - whether paying for a hotel stay or taxi because of the lack of late night public transport.
The latest train from the Highland capital to Aviemore leaves at at 8.22pm arriving at 9.07pm.
The latest bus service between the two locations is a Citylink service operated by Megabus leaving the city at 8.30pm and arriving in Aviemore at 9.12pm.
The launch of a new Inverness-Edinburgh route comes just days after Ember began journeys on its new round-the-clock Inverness-Glasgow services.
