The Calman Trust have developed a new app for young people in the area.

A new app has been launched to support young people living in the Highlands.

HasAnswers has been developed by The Calman Trust which provides people who live in the area with bespoke answers that meet their needs.

With answers to questions such as bill payments, housing and finding a job, all the answers are tailored to each user of the account.

Speaking about the new app, Isobel Grigor, chief executive of The Calman Trust said: “We really want to empower young people to work things out for themselves when things come up.

“We don’t want them to reach crisis point when they can be empowered to find out the answers with the support of this app.

“We want young people to find independence and be able to solve things out with support. By using this app, they can feel like they are in control rather than having something dictated to them.”

Currently a lot of information online can be a minefield for people and overwhelming. Young people put their living situation, age and if they are looking for a job or not in the app.

This makes sure that all the answers the app provides is relevant to them rather than just being generalised.

The app is also responsive, and any questions young people ask on the app can then be used to develop it further.

Users receive guidance specific to their region, along with direct referrals to local offices and contacts for further assistance.

The app also has direct access to a support worker that young people can get in touch with if they are unsure about anything.

There are also meal recipes and helpful tips for general living so it benefits both young people working and those who are students.

HasAnswers aims to bridge the gap between young people and employment opportunities.

Isobel added: “The platform offers a valuable opportunity for local employers to connect with those seeking work, opening job opportunities to young people at an early stage in their career, whilst helping to fulfil employment needs.”
