A MAN who caused a bomb scare at an Inverness factory, Inverness Sheriff Court heard today.

Rodney Keniston (47) of Castle Heather Drive, Inverness, called Lifescan Scotland and told them there was a bomb in a trailer at the company’s Seafield Road factory.

Keniston admitted a charge that on September 5 last year at Lifescan Scotland, 50 Seafield Road, or at his home sending a text message to an internal phone number at Lifescan with information with the intention of inducing them to believe that a bomb or other thing liable to explode or ignite was present within a trailer in the service yard at Lifescan’s premises in Seafield Road.

Rodney Keniston was not present in court but his solicitor Diane McFarlane, who tendered the guilty plea, said given the unusual nature of the charge she thought it likely the court would be seeking background reports on the first offender.

Sheriff Ian Abercrombie deferred sentence until December 29 for community justice social work reports.
