Family reunited with paramedics who saved their baby after roadside birth

A family whose newborn baby was saved by paramedics have been reunited with the ambulance crew months after the roadside incident.
Gemma Greensmith had gone into labour outside her home in Stoke in June, 26 weeks into her pregnancy.
With newborn daughter Raelyn not breathing, the family administered CPR before operations manager Ian Yates and paramedics Kirsty Lockett and Jenine Cryle arrived and took over.
Raelyn spent 110 days at the Royal Stoke Maternity Hospital before being allowed home, and months later the family were able to meet the crew once more to thank them.
“I was absolutely terrified and then relieved beyond belief when the ambulance arrived,” said Ms Greensmith.
“Giving birth at 26 weeks in the cab of a lorry outside of my house wasn’t how I imagined it to happen at all.”
Ms Lockett, one of the paramedics on the scene, brought gifts for mother and daughter at the reunion, saying: “This has absolutely made my career, nothing will ever compare to the feeling of meeting Gemma and Raelyn and seeing them happy and healthy.”
Her crewmate Ms Cryle seconded those sentiments, adding: “Responding to such a terrible job and being able to get such a positive outcome is once in a lifetime and this is definitely one of my proudest moments in my career.”
