A HIGHLAND MSP has tested positive for Covid-19, she has confirmed.

Maree Todd, who represents Caithness, Sutherland and Ross, announced the news on Twitter this evening.

She said: "I’ve received a positive Covid test result today.

"No symptoms but am obviously self-isolating with my family now.

"I also want to say thanks to the testing staff and the contact tracers for their work. They are on the frontline and are magnificent. Thank you all."

Her announcement comes amid rising coronavirus rates across the Highlands, with almost 400 new cases detected across the NHS Highland health board area in the past four days.

Scotland yesterday also posted its biggest daily number of confirmed infections, with more than 3000 positive tests recorded in a single 24-hour period.
