Last chance to get priority entry for 2025 Etape Loch Ness cycling sportive
Tickets for next year’s Etape Loch Ness are expected to sell out within a couple of days as priority entry is due to open on Tuesday morning.
Having celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year, the 2025 event is gearing up to be another busy one, with thousands of cyclists taking on the closed-road route.
With a cap of 6000 riders and a history of selling out in under 48 hours, those hoping to be on the start line in April are being urged to register now for priority access.
Entry for those registered opens at 10am on Tuesday, October 29, with a unique link emailed out via the mailing list. They then have a 48-hour window to secure their spot before tickets go on general sale.
Taking place amidst the “breathtaking backdrop” of Loch Ness, the bucket-list event promises a unique and challenging ride. Participants will experience the joy of cycling on closed roads on both sides of the loch, taking in the spectacular scenery on their journey.
With the route designed to cater to cyclists of all levels, from first-timers to seasoned athletes, the Etape Loch Ness remains one of the UK’s most accessible and inclusive cycling events.
The event has raised over £2.18 million for Macmillan Cancer Support over the past decade, making it their most successful cycling event. Macmillan has guaranteed places for cyclists who commit to raising funds for the charity.
Event director Malcolm Sutherland said: “We are incredibly proud that the Etape Loch Ness has become one of the UK’s biggest closed-road cycle sportives for 2025, with participants coming from all over the world to experience it.
“Our partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support continues to be a highlight, and we’re grateful for the funds raised to support their invaluable work.
“With priority entry about to open, we encourage everyone to secure their place early and be part of this amazing journey. We are committed to welcoming everyone from the cycling community including first timers and more female riders to the event.”
Cyclists will tackle a 66-mile route around Loch Ness, with the course including a challenging elevation of 900 metres - as riders leave Fort Augustus, there is an intense King of the Mountain section, a 4.8-mile climb gaining 380m in height and with a gradient at times reaching 12 per cent.
While the route is testing and timed, organisers say the event is non-competitive, welcoming all levels of cyclists to enjoy the beauty and thrill of the ride.
More than 11,000 cyclists have already registered interest in the 2025 event, which takes place on April 27. Once priority and general entry has sold out, only Macmillan charity places will be available, with funds benefiting Macmillan Cancer Support.
