Kingussie salute for gentleman John's last journey

The capital of Badenoch bade a heartfelt farewell yesterday (Thursday) to John Lockhart with a piped procession through the main streets before the cortege departed for St John's Church yard at Rothiemurchus.

Mr Lockhart, of Craigentor on Middle Terrace journeyed down Gynack Road on to Kingussie High Street as locals and visitors alike stood in salute.

The Skye man who had become such a popular member of the strath community was a beloved husband of the late Rev Patricia, father to Katie and Beth and devoted grandpa to Jake, Max, Ariana, Finn and Rosa. He died peacefully at home with his daughters by his side on Friday, September 11

"Today we said goodbye to the most amazing man," his daughter Beth posted on social media. "Not only the best dad you could ever wish for, but also my best friend."

Look out for Thursday's Strathy which will carry Mr Lockhart's obituary.
