A 28 year old hotel worker sexually assaulted a workmate in an Aviemore guest house while she was sleeping.

Liam Oram from Pound Road, Basingstoke admitted having oral sex with the woman in a room of the A'anside Guest House in the village on April 19, 2018.

Sentence was deferred at Inverness Sheriff Court earlier today until May 4 by Sheriff Margaret Neilson for his personal appearance and a background report .

Defence solicitor advocate Shahid Latif said he would reserve his comments until then, but told Inverness Sheriff Court: "This started as a consensual act and then it was withdrawn."

Fiscal depute Robert Weir said that the pair had gone for after work drinks in Aviemore and the woman returned home alone just after midnight.

He said that about 3am, Oram sent texts to her.

"He asked if he could come to her room which she agreed to. They sat talking, playing the guitar and having a few drinks.

"He was talking about the death of a friend. There was no discussion about anything sexual and at no time did he make any effort to kiss her.

Mr Weir went on: "After about 30 minutes, the woman stated she was tired and went into her bed, fully clothed. She anticipated he would leave but instead he lay on the bed next to her, also fully clothed but on top of the covers."

He added that the woman must have fallen asleep and when she woke, she found her trousers had been pulled down and Oram was performing a sex act on her..

Mr Weir said: "She sat up, swore at the accused, asking him what was going on and shouted at him to leave."

The court heard she was distraught, phoned a friend and challenged Oram later that day on social media.

"He confessed to being too drunk and high. She reported the incident the following day at Aviemore Police Station," Mr Weir said.
