A Highland woman was caught driving before midday while more than four times the alcohol limit.

Louise Millar (41), of Rothiemurchus, was stopped on January 25 on the B9152 public road at Grampian Road, Aviemore where she was found to have 98mcg of alcohol when the legal limit is 22mcg.

At Inverness Sheriff Court, fiscal depute Shamiela Ghafar told Sheriff Gerard Sinclair: “Police on mobile patrol observed the vehicle due to the manner of driving.

“They spoke to the accused who was slightly slow and unsteady on her feet.”

Millar admitted drink-driving and was disqualified from driving for a year, fined £420 and ordered to undertake a drink-driver rehabilitation scheme which if she successfully completes it, will earn her a 12 week discount on the disqualification.

Defence solicitor Duncan Henderson said his client was apologetic, adding: “She is embarrassed and realises how serious matters could have been.”
