Highlands and Islands MSP Edward Mountain has been reselected to be the Scottish Conservative candidate for the Inverness and Nairn constituency in 2021 Scottish Parliament elections.
He was selected by local Scottish Conservative party members meeting in Inverness.
In the 2016 election Mr Mountain finished second in the Inverness and Nairn seat, increasing the Scottish Conservative vote share by 8.4%. He became an MSP following his election from the Regional List vote.
Since his election, he has built a strong reputation as a campaigning MSP who has fought for improvements to Raigmore Car Park, led calls for an inquiry into bullying at NHS Highland and has continued to press the Scottish Government for more investment in Highland schools and the long-delayed HMP Highland.
Mr Mountain is also convener of the Scottish Parliament’s Rural Economy and Connectivity Committee.
“I am delighted and humbled to have been selected," he said today (Thursday, August 22).
"This gives me a further opportunity to fight for the people of Inverness, Nairn and the Highlands to ensure this area sees improvements to education, health care provision and infrastructure.
"I am looking forward to the Scottish Parliament returning from recess in the next few weeks where I will continue to make sure the Highland voice is heard in Holyrood.”
