UPDATE: Drivers warned A9 closed in north Perthshire after crash
Motorists are being warned that a road accident has forced the closure of the A9 in both directions in Highland Perthshire.
The accident by Calvine was reported at 2.12pm today
There are lengthy tailbacks in both the northbound and southbound directions.
Drivers are being advised to avoid the area where possible and approach the vicinity with caution.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the A9 near Calvine at around 2pm.
"Emergency services are in attendance and the road is currently closed."
A spokesman for Traffic Scotland said: “The A9 north of Calvine is closed in both directions due to a road traffic accident, road users are advised to use an alternative route and expect longer than normal journey times.”
