Half a dozen new Covid-19 coronavirus cases detected across NHS Highland area in past 24 hours

Six new cases of Covid-19 have been detected across the NHS Highland region.

The area's cumulative total rose from 1322 to 1328 when the latest daily update was published.

Some 1018 positive tests were recorded across Scotland in the past day.

The number of people needing hospital treatment for the virus rose by 22 to 1234. Of those, some 88 required intensive care – up three since Thursday.

And a further 32 who previously tested positive for the virus have sadly died in Scotland.

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new positive tests in NHS Eileanan Siar, NHS Shetland or NHS Orkney.

NHS Tayside detected a further 63 cases, to take its cumulative total to 5355.

And NHS Grampian's running tally increased by 55 to 4179.

There have been 86,630 positive tests across Scotland since the start of the pandemic.
