Walkers will tell you that Creag Bheag is a fine and steep little hill rising above Kingussie.

As to precisely how ‘little’ it is, well that pretty much depends how fit you are!

But we can assure Strathy readers there are easier 4.5 miles walks in the strath, especially those which don’t have elevations of 487 metres.

The rock-climber's crags near the summit can also be quite challenging.

But it’s all no problem to Gordon Stewart who can’t really get enough of it.

“I first climbed it in December 1987 and in December 2022 I realised I had climbed it 600 times,” he told us after reaching a noteable landmark.

“That’s when I thought it would make a good target to go for 1000.

On Sunday September 1, Gordon organised a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the feat along with some bubbles. “We marked the ‘grand’ tally with a glass of fizz!” he said.
