NHS Highland records 11 fresh Covid-19 cases across the health board area

Eleven new Covid-19 cases have been detected in the NHS Highland area in the past day.

The region's cumulative number of infections rose to 1322 from 1311 when the latest daily update was published at 2pm.

Some 1089 positive tests were recorded across Scotland since yesterday.

The number of people requiring hospital treatment for Covid-19 fell by 29 overnight to 1212. And those in intensive care dropped by three to 85.

Sadly a further 50 people who previously tested positive for coronavirus have now died.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new cases in NHS Eileanan Siar. But NHS Shetland (two) and NHS Orkney (one) both recorded fresh infections, and saw their cumulative totals rise to 73 and 36 respectively.

NHS Grampian's overall tally increased by 62 to 4124.

And NHS Tayside recorded 60 fresh positive tests, to take its cumulative total to 5292.

Scotland has now recorded 85,612 positive tests since the pandemic started.
