The league leaders moved four points clear of Buckie Thistle - who have a game in hand - thanks to Ryan Cowie's early goal earning a 1-0 success at home to Nairn County.

Buckie host Wick Academy on Wednesday night, looking to bring the gap back to one point ahead of the final Saturday of the season this weekend.

Fraserburgh welcome Forres Mechanics to Bellslea Park knowing three points will secure their fourth Highland League crown, and first in 20 years.

Any points slipped up by the Broch would offer an opportunity to Buckie, who are away to Clach on the same day.

Elsewhere in the league on Saturday, Strathspey Thistle got a good point away to Lossiemouth.

The Coasters led at the break when a big kick-out by keeper Logan Ross was misjudged by Jags defender Liam McDade, whose header ended up beating his own goalkeeper.

McDade's blushes were saved by fellow Elgin City loanee Jake Thomson who netted a late penalty kick to earn the Grantown side a point.

There were two more own goals at Christie Park where Huntly rescued a 2-2 draw against Clach.

A James Calder o.g. put the home side in front, only for Huntly defender Kyle Dalling to put one past his own keeper to level within minutes.

James Anderson's 22nd goal of the season appeared to have won it for Clach late on but Greg Buchan netted just before the end to grab a share of the spoils for the home team.

Brechin City notched up their 10th consecutive league win to confirm Fort William's place in the relegation play'offs.

The bottom side, without a win all season, took the lead with a Taylor Kelly penalty but Kieran Inglis equalised before half time.

Inglis also netted from the spot in the second half while Cammie Ross, Michael Paton and Julian Wade added three more in the closing few minutes to complete a 5-1 Brechin win.

Fort still have four games to play but will then take on North Junior Superleague champions Banks o' Dee over two legs in the first-ever Highland League play-off game.

They are back in action tonight at Turriff United.

The match between Rothes and Keith was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, with a new date yet to be confirmed.

The Speysiders also have four games left to play including a home game against Inverurie Locos on Wednesday night.
