Spey Valley Shopping at the award-winning Macdonald Aviemore Resort has welcomed its first customers in more than 100 days.

Following the longest closure in the resort’s 54 year history, yesterday's reopening of the popular shopping destination represented a significant step forward as the first part of the complex to begin unlocking.

The move has also enabled five staff to return to serving customers following the closure of the shop on March 21st.

While golf at the nearby Spey Valley Championship Course has already resumed subject to restrictions and adherence to guidelines, it is anticipated that the resort’s hotels will start to welcome guests from July 15th.

Spey Valley Shopping manager Caron Black said: “We have worked hard to implement all the measures required to give our customers a safe shopping experience, and our staff a safe return to work.

"Physical distancing, a marked one-way system, sanitiser stations and extensive additional cleaning are just some of the things we have introduced.

“To celebrate reopening, we’ve also launched our summer sale and we were delighted to welcome our first customer less than an hour after we opened the doors.”

Spey Valley Shopping offers a unique retail experience at the centre of the Macdonald Aviemore Resort.

The destination is a popular choice for local and visiting shoppers thanks to its wide selection of exclusive gifts, luxury brand clothing and accessories, and homeware.
