Edward Mountain came second on the Scottish Conservatives regional list of candidates for the Highlands and Islands for the forthcoming Scottish elections.

The result comes following a vote of members and supporters of the Scottish Conservatives.

In August 2019, Edward Mountain was also reselected to be the Scottish Conservative candidate for the Inverness and Nairn constituency.

In the 2016 election, Edward Mountain finished second in the Inverness and Nairn seat, increasing the Scottish Conservative vote share by 8.4 per cent. He became an MSP following his election from the regional list vote.

Since his election, Edward Mountain has built a strong reputation as a campaigning MSP who has fought for improvements to health care provision, the creation of more jobs, and the rebuilding of the crumbling Highland school estate.

Mr Mountain said: “I am delighted and humbled to have finished second on the Scottish Conservative regional list for the Highlands and Islands.

"I will be standing alongside a talented and dedicated list of Scottish Conservatives who are fully focussed on rebuilding our communities and economy following the pandemic.

"I am more determined than ever to fight for the people of the Highlands and Islands and to ensure our area has a strong recovery.

"Creating more jobs, improving health care and rebuilding our crumbling school estate are my top campaign priorities this election."
