A community group's bid to carry out improvements to a play park in Grantown have received a double boost.

Fundraising has been taking place in recent weeks for the town's Dulaig Play Park.

Spokeswoman Ingrid Artus said: "We're having a pre-Christmas cake sale on November 29 and Dulaig Park Renovation has just been selected as one of the Co-op funds for the year which will be a huge boost to our fundraising."

The quartet of Vicki Cowan, Cara Brooks, Natalia Wieckowska and Tim Artus recently ran the Virtual London Marathon from the Coire Cas car park at Cairngorm Mountain to their home town with a few detours to make up the 26.2 miles.

Cara said: “Hopefully this fundraising will help support the renovation work already in progress at the park.”

Cake fundraisers Rosie Shreeve and Fiona Clark will be holding another sale next month.

A cake sale was also recently organised by Rosie Shreeve and Fiona Clark – who will also be running November's fundraiser - to help with the park's upgrade.

It brought in an impressive £448.94 and required timetabled arrivals and departures to ensure all cake buyers were social distancing.

Rosie said: "Every child should have access to a functional, fun and interactive play park, and we want to ensure that we do our utmost to create this for our families."

Dulaig Park Renovation is a sub-group of the Grantown Initiative and was created a year ago to renovate the play space that is already there.

The aim to develop a space that is suitable for all generations and provides a stimulating environment for young and old alike.
