Shortage of rail crew has yet again sparked train cancellations in the north.

Two journeys on the Far North Line have been axed on Tuesday, with rail chiefs warning they were having difficulty sourcing replacement coaches at the time of writing.

The 10.41am Inverness to Wick and the 4pm Wick to Inverness, which would have used the same train, have both been cancelled.

They were the only cancellations on the entire ScotRail network at the time of writing.

Confirming their cancellation on the journeycheck.com website, a ScotRail spokesperson, speaking at 5.23am, said: "Unfortunately we're having some trouble sourcing replacement buses.

"We're still trying but, until we’ve managed to get some in place, we'd recommend you make your own arrangements. Please use the help point or speak to a member of staff for any further information."
