Court appearance due after Laggan Dam crash

Police Scotland have confirmed that a man is to appear in court in connection with a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a roads worker.

The incident happened on the A86 north of the Laggan Dam shortly before midday yesterday.

The collision involved a Mercedes Vito and the worker who was carrying out construction work on the road at the time.

The man was taken to the Belford Hospital in Fort William for treatment to serious injuries.

They are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police confirmed that a 49-year-old man has been charged with road traffic offences and is expected to appear at Fort William Sheriff Court later today.

Inspector Neil Lumsden said: "We would remind people slow down when approaching or passing roadworks.

"Signage an temp speed limits are in place for a reason to protect the safety of road workers and all road users

"Please follow the instructions of any additional road signs, reduce your speed and be alert to any plant or workers moving in the roadworks."
