Controversial roadworks due to return to Aviemore this coming week or so we think...
Roadworks which caused chaos in Aviemore last summer are due to resume next week – and so far the omens are not looking good.
Signs at the junction of Dalfaber Drive and Grampian Road state that work starts for four weeks from “January 10, 2022”.
The Strathy contacted the local authority at the end of last year to clarify the start date, given that the year is wrong, but has yet to receive a response.
The roadworks had been due to return last September but were then postponed. There was anger and frustration caused by the over-running of the junction redesign work which had initially been due for completion within 10 weeks.
The local authority eventually removed the roadworks in mid-July after coming under increasing pressure, with tailbacks for northbound traffic stretching the length of the village and delays of a half-hour at peak times.
