The wraps will be coming off at Kingussie’s Co-op store on Thursday.

The company has told the Strathy that the refurbishment of the shop has gone to schedule and the door will reopen as planned on November 6.

“We’re back and better than ever,” said a spokesperson.

Shoppers in Badenoch are being invited now to ‘discover what’s new at your local Kingussie Co-op, 24 High Street, which will be open from 6am until 10pm daily’.

Staff were kept on during the seven-week upgrade and worked across the area in various Co-op branches from Newtonmore to Aberlour and this week the excitement was palpable as they prepared to return their own local store.

“We can’t wait to see inside and know the scope of the refurb,” said one on Thursday, who told the Strathy he had ‘travelled a bit’ during the refurbishment operation.

WORK IN ACTION: The refurb began on September 15 and has reportedly stayed on schedule.

“We’re as clueless as everyone else about what we’ll find because try as we might we couldn’t see through the windows!”
