The Highland Business Awards is an opportunity to recognise the strength and diversity of organisations across the region.

This year there are 10 diverse categories to choose from and the entries already being submitted are of the highest calibre.

A brand new category is the Highland Business Award for best marketing campaign. This will go to a business that has engaged in standout marketing activity to support a clear business objective.

Whether via social media, traditional platforms or an integrated campaign, entries must have caught the public’s attention and demonstrate creativity, alongside demonstrating results that provide real impact on the business such as increased sales, a drive in footfall, increased engagement or new business referrals.

Organisations are invited to nominate themselves or they may nominate another business.

Paula Nicol, deputy chief executive of Highland Business Awards organisers Inverness Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’re excited to introduce this new category to the 2024 Highland Business Awards. It’s a fantastic opportunity for Highland companies to showcase creative approaches to achieving their business goals. Adding social media to the more traditional marketing platforms means that, with the right approach, businesses of any scale and size have the potential to hit the headlines.”

A returning category at this year’s awards is the employer of the year award. This will go to an organisation that demonstrates dedication to its workforce, by continually investing in upskilling and training. It will show how it puts staff wellbeing at the heart of everything it does, resulting in a collaborative and inclusive culture that fosters a stimulating and supportive work environment. Employees are invited to nominate employers for this award.

Commenting on this award, Paula said: “We all know that the Highlands is a great place to live and work and the growth in our region’s economy has drawn an increasing number of businesses to locate or have a presence here. Many companies recognise their people as being key to their success and this award gives a company the opportunity to tell us about how they continually invest in their staff to attract and retain the best talent.”

The Highland Business Awards will take place at the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness, on Friday, September 27, and are the climax of Highland Business Week 2024 which runs from Monday, September 23, to Friday, September 27.

The busy programme of events, networking opportunities and seminars includes the Highland Spotlight business exhibition at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel on Tuesday, September 24. More than two thirds of the stands have now been reserved for the Highlands’ biggest dedicated business-to-business exhibition.
