“It was lovely news,” said owner Toni Vastano.

“We’re just delighted to be honest. We had absolutely no idea that we had been put forward to Cycling UK, and nominated for Cyclists Cafe of the year 2020.

“It means a huge amount to us after such a challenging year – particularly the fact we’re such a young business and that we only opened last year in May 2019.

The Old Post Office has certainly proved to be a popular stop-off point for cyclists and many others and word of mouth has spread.

Toni, a huge bike fanatic himself, said: "Mikes Bikes, Bothy Bikes, Nash Bikes, Cycle Friendly Kingussie and Danny Macaskill have all mentioned us in social media posts as a cycle friendly place to visit.

"We’ve absolutely loved the fact that on summer days Jock's Knoll opposite the cafe has see dozens of cyclists enjoying a pit stop – socially distancing of course – and tucking into our tasty street food including the famous Potting Shed and Blonde Bakery cakes as well as all the local produce we sell.

"What’s not to like about cycling, coffee and cake!"
