A Strathy reader has contacted us over a shocking find near the Aviemore Country Park walk by Dalfaber.

A casualty of the latest floods.
A casualty of the latest floods.

The caller, who did not wish to be named, said: "It is such a sad sight to see this sheep that didn't survive the recent spate on the Spey.

"Although it's slightly out of the way it's not far from the path.

"Anyone with children needs to be careful if they choose to go off on their own."

The Strathy has contacted Highland Council about the dead sheep and a spokesman said that environmental health department had now been alerted over this morning's discovery.

It is not clear how long the sheep has been dangling on the tree branch over the river.
