Bottle banks are overflowing in Aviemore
Highland Council's two main bottle recycling banks are over-flowing with empties in Aviemore.
Hundreds of bottles are starting to fill-up at the collection points at Tesco supermarket in the village centre and on Dalfaber Industrial Estate.
There are also bottle banks at the local authority's recycling site at Granish, north of Aviemore, but the facility is closed on Sundays.
Council bosses are urging people not to leave their empty bottles at the collection points if they are full.
A local authority spokesperson said yesterday: "The Council would like to once again, apologise that some glass bottle banks across the region remain full.
"This is due to vehicle breakdowns and seasonal increase in glass recycling over the festive period.
"The council and the contractor are continuing to work together to resolve the issue with urban areas being prioritised.
"If your local glass bank is full, please avoid leaving your glass by the banks – take it away with you until the banks have capacity.
"Further updates will be issued as the glass recycling banks are emptied and have capacity.
"Thank you for your understanding and patience."
