The countdown to the big day gets under way later this week in Boat of Garten.

The village's Living Advent Calendar is returning for its second year.

Every evening from 5pm until around 7pm there will be a window or garden display unveiled somewhere in the village. All are welcome to attend.

One of the organisers Laura Sunan said: "The idea was first discussed in the Boat of Garten community Facebook group and there was a lot of interest in the village.

"For this year we now have 24 addresses confirmed in Boat which are mostly private homes and also the community hall, Boat Hotel, the 1896 Gallery, Deshar Primary School and the church.

"The idea is that a window or garden display will be revealed every evening of advent.

"The first this Wednesday (December 1) will be at the 1896 Gallery and the last display will be revealed on Christmas Eve at the church."

The village's primary school and nursery will benefit from the proceeds.

The light-ups are a free event but donations are welcome and will go towards music sessions at Deshar Primary School.

Laura explained: "We are raising money for the school because their main fundraiser – the Bonfire Night display – had to be cancelled this year.

"There will also be a raffle at the community hall on December 15 and carols at the church on Christmas Eve and refreshments may be provided at some venues."

More information and updates will be posted on the Boat of Garten Living Advent Calendar group or contact Laura on 07597 591618 or boatadventcalendar@gmail.com .

Donations can be made online via the link on the Facebook page or in cash at the venues or here
