Musical fans will get the chance to enjoy one of the world’s most beloved shows when a new community production of Annie hits the Inverness stage.

Ness Entertainment will be bringing their brand-new production to Eden Court Theatre from Thursday to Sunday, October 2 to 5.

With its unforgettable score featuring Tomorrow, Hard Knock Life, Maybe and NYC, Annie has charmed audiences across the globe since it first opened on Broadway in 1977. Based on Harold Gray’s comic strip Little Orphan Annie, the show has gone on to win seven Tony Awards, inspire multiple West End runs, and spawn film adaptations watched by millions worldwide.

Now, Inverness audiences can experience the magic live on stage as more than 60 local performers bring the streets of 1930s New York to life. From the orphanage run by the unforgettable Miss Hannigan to the grand mansion of billionaire Oliver Warbucks, this vibrant new production captures all the humour, warmth and optimism that has made Annie a timeless favourite.

Alan Mackintosh and Sally Robertson, producers for Ness Entertainment, said: “After the success of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2024, we knew we had to bring another iconic family musical to Eden Court.

“Annie is about resilience, hope and community - themes that feel especially powerful right now. With the addition of our special sing-along performance, audiences can expect a truly joyous celebration.”

Directed by Claire Fisher, choreographed by Jade McIntyre, and with musical direction by Ross Brindle, this large-scale production features a cast drawn from across the Highlands. Rehearsals have been under way since April, with the cast dedicating countless evenings and weekends to bringing the show to life.

Set against the backdrop of the Great Depression, Annie tells the story of a young orphan with an unshakeable spirit and a belief that “the sun’ll come out tomorrow.”

Escaping the clutches of the wicked Miss Hannigan, Annie finds an unlikely home with billionaire Oliver Warbucks - but she never stops dreaming of being reunited with her real family. Packed with dazzling dance numbers, hilarious characters and soaring songs, Annie is a beloved musical around the world.

Tickets are on sale now from Eden Court Theatre at eden-court.co.uk/event/annie, or by calling the box office on 01463 234234.
