Charities, community land trusts and housing co-ops across the Highlands have been urged by Badenoch MSP Kate Forbes to apply for funding through the Nationwide Community Grants programme.
The scheme, intended to help improve the supply and quality of housing, is open for applications for grants between £10,000 to £50,000 – with a deadline of Friday July 5.
Foundation Scotland, who is running the initiative, has said it will prioritise funding to groups that can demonstrate the impact their project will have on their own local community, bids that will support people with housing needs in original and creative ways, as well as ideas that have the potential to be replicated in other areas.
Ms Forbes said: “The supply and quality of housing is a matter of serious and pressing concern in the Highlands.
“There are housing associations, charities and social enterprises all doing great work in this space, but I am sure they could always do with additional resource.
“These grants have previously been used to improve prospects and outcomes for people in need of a home.
“I would encourage anybody in the Highlands to consider applying before the deadline at the beginning of July.”
