Kingussie’s historic Ruthven Barracks flew the flag for in independent Scotland again today.

The fire may have gone out in 1746 when the Jacobites burned it down, but there was plenty of passion at the place today as the Badenoch and Strathspey YES group stormed the hill to fly its saltires.

As one of local group explained: “As supporters of independence of our nation, we have gathered today to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Scottish independence referendum.

“The turnout today demonstrates that many are still Yes for Independence and it was good to hear lots of rousing toots from passing cars on the A9.”

A multitude of saltires, banners and signs were on display at the landmark ruins just outside Kingussie all of them difficult to miss for passing traffic.
