Young musicians in Badenoch and Strathspey will have the chance to go 'live' again in their own festival in 2022.

The committee behind Strathfest have delightedly announced that they are planning to return to live performances following this year's successful 'alternative' virtual event.

"There will again be the opportunity for live performances in many of the categories," said chair Mary-Ann Connolly.

"These include traditional, Gaelic, instrumental, pianoforte, vocal solo and small group performances.

"However due to restrictions large group performances such as choirs and action songs, large ensembles and the open category will still have to enter virtually via our successful online platform playandperform."

The festival will take place the week of March 7 and the venues planned to host are The Duke of Gordon Hotel in Kingussie and Inverallan Church in Grantown.

"So, all those budding geniuses keep practising and decide on your submission with your tutors. "The full syllabus will be on our website shortly after Christmas with all the details of entry. Fingers crossed that next year stays looking bright for music in the strath."
