A popular Aviemore restaurant and bar has said it is closing its doors for the next two days 'out of an abundance of caution' after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

The Old Bridge Inn has said one of its back of house team, who has not been at work for several days, had been confirmed as having coronavirus.

The business has been contacting people who had bookings to dine at the restaurant on Old Dalfaber Road.

There were lots of people enjoying dinner and drinks at the Old Bridge Inn last night - the first Saturday night since pubs were allowed to resume serving alcohol inside.

The Old Bridge Inn has been focussing on catering indoors for customers who are dining.

Good safeguards were in place with only two customers allowed at a time at the bar to place orders for drinks with an orderly short and socially distanced queue outside.

The venue has been operating a maximum capacity of 70 and putting to good use an outside dining area and a separate drinks area overlooking the River Spey.

The Old Bridge Inn stated on social media: "Unfortunately we have just been notified that one of our back of house team, who has not been at work for a couple of days, has returned a positive Covid-19 test.

"Out of an abundance of caution and until we communicate fully with Test & Protect Scotland, we are closing our doors for the moment.

"For the 99 people booked tonight, please accept our apologies.

"The same will go for everyone booked tomorrow (Monday), sadly we will remain closed for food then too."

The operators continued: "All remaining staff have returned negative lateral flow tests today.

"Until we have more robust tests carried out and Test & Protect Scotland give us the all-clear we will have to put a hold on food, at a minimum and for now drinks too.

"Once all close contacts of our staff member are fully identified, we will asses how we can open back up, putting health and safety at the forefront of our decisions.

"Please note this is one individual who is currently affected. Let’s not get too dramatic, but safety first etcetera."
