POLICE have appealed for information after thieves attempted to steal an electric car from an "isolated location" near Laggan.

The attempted theft occurred near Creag Meagaidh at about 10pm on Wednesday, January 27.

Officers have also re-issued advice to the public to help minimise the risk to their belongings.

Drivers should park as close to their premises as possible, and "preferably out of sight from nearby roads".

Motorists should also:

  • Remove keys when not in use.
  • Fit wheel clamps and/or locking posts or consider an alarm.
  • Park larger vehicles in front of access doors to prevent easy access.
  • Mark or customise your property so it is easily identifiable. This can deter thieves and assist recovery if they are stolen.
  • Consider tracking devices for high value vehicles and machinery.
  • Keep a record of all machinery, tools, vehicles and equipment with photographs and serial numbers.

Anyone with information relating to the Laggan incident can contact officers in Aviemore on 101.
