Angry scenes at full time as Inverness Caledonian Thistle relegated
Angry scenes took place at full time inside and outside the Caledonian Stadium, as Inverness Caledonian Thistle were relegated to League One following losing the Championship play-off final to Hamilton Academical.
Both sets of fans stormed the pitch at full time after Hamilton Academical beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3-2 to win 5-3 on aggregate yesterday and earn promotion to the Championship next season.
Hundreds of fans, supporting both teams ran on to the pitch, with a small minority visibly seen attempting to start fights and throw objects at each other.
Security guards stood between both sets of fans to prevent further trouble occurring.
Fans also went over to the main stand protesting against members of the Inverness Caledonian Thistle board at full time.
It was also reported police were involved in breaking up fights outside the stadium aftet full time.
But O’Hara’s penalty just before half time increased the deficit to three and killed off the contest.Alex Samuel scored in the eighth minute of stoppage time, but it was too late to save Inverness from relegation.
