An additional public holiday on Friday 3 June 2022 has been approved at the latest full meeting of Highland Council held yesterday.

The day off is to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and 70 years on the throne in line with UK Government arrangements.

There will be no change to the council’s existing public holidays.

A local authority spokesperson said: "Highland Council offices and schools will be closed with minimal service provision on 3 June such as emergency services and waste.

"A request will be made to the Scottish Government for the council to reduce the number of teaching days to accommodate the additional public holiday."
