Accident closed the A9 in Inverness for 13 hours
A woman was killed and a 35-year-old man left seriously injured in a one-vehicle road crash that closed the A9 for 13 hours yesterday.
Police confirmed the woman, who has not been named, died at the scene of the accident on the A9 near Inshes.
The man was taken to hospital where he is being treated, but neither has been named as yet.
The accident happened in the early hours of yesterday morning, with police closing the dual carriageway southbound between the Raigmore Interchange and the Milton of Leys junction on Drumossie Brae.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 1.40am on Friday, 20 December, 2024 officers were called to a report of a one-vehicle crash on the A9 near Inshes, Inverness.
”Emergency services attended and a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A 35-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“The A9 southbound was re-opened around 2.45pm.”
