Strathspey Thistle were unable to get back to winning ways after being thumped 7-1 by Turriff United in the Highland League on Saturday.

The Grantown side will be glad to see the back of Turriff who have put 15 goals past them this season in two games - hammering them 8-1 at Seafield Park last November

The home side’s Ewan Clark bagged a hat-trick with goals in the 9th, 57th and 83rd minute with the latter coming from a spot kick.

John Allan got a brace (22nd and 38th) with Reece McKeown (27th) and Jack McKenzie getting the others.

The Jags’ counter came from Owen Lovelands in the 48th minute by which time they were already well out of the game.

Elsewhere in the Highland League on Saturday, Nairn County finished their final game of the season at home with 2-0 defeat to Formartine United at Station Park.

Both goals came in the first half from Julian Wade which was enough who broke the deadlock after 15 minutes.

He then doubled the Pitmedden’s club advantage nine minutes later which Nairn never recovered from.

The defeat means Nairn County remain in eighth place in the Highland League game with one match remaining.

They could at least finish in seventh place in the table when they face Huntly, who are one place above them, in both clubs’ final game of the season at Christie Park.

Sixth place is also a possibility for Nairn with Brora Rangers only one point ahead, but the Sutherland club have six games remaining in the campaign.

Fraserburgh are now three points behind league leaders Brechin City after beating them 4-2 at Bellslea in a riverting top of the table clash.

Banks O’Dee defeated Huntly 2-1 in Aberdeen to keep their title hopes alive while Deveronvale defeated Inverurie Locos 2-1.
