HOLDERS Badenoch and Strathspey completed a 15-0 rout of a plucky Linlithgow in the quarter finals of the Caledonian Canal Challenge Cup for Division Two teams.

The match was played in ideal weather conditions at the University Campus at Stirling.

Janette McGregor scored from close range in the first minute and from then on the inexperienced Linlithgow side had no answer.

It was the third match in a row that McGregor has scored in the opening 60 seconds, and it proved to be the start of an avalanche of goals for the Badenoch and Strathspey side.

By half time the score was 6-0, with goals coming from Kirsty Deans (3) and Julie McWhirter (2).

Nine players from the strath got their names on the scoresheet, also including Jeanette MacGregor. Elizabeth MacGregor (2), Sarah Caird, Lindsay Deans, Karen Hamilton, Erin McNiven and Jane Nicol.

The pick of the goals was a long range shot from inside her own half by Erin McNiven.

In the semi-finals on August 16, Badenoch will face a repeat of last season's final against Strathglass, who overcame Lochaber 3-2 in the tightest game of the day.

Carly Ferguson put Lochaber in front just before the break and she scored again to restore her side's lead five minutes into the second half, after Laura McConachie had levelled for Strath.

Lucy Macleod netted a second Strathglass equaliser midway through the period and, with extra time looming, Emma MacGillivray scored the Cannich side's winner.

Aberdeen University qualified for their first semi-final appearance following a 4-0 win over Dunadd.

Aisling O'Shea opened the scoring and, with Aberdeen dominating the game, a Claire Wightman double on either side of the interval put the outcome beyond doubt.

Dunadd defended resolutely, but had no luck with injuries, and must have realised it wasn't their day when a spectacular own goal rounded off the scoring.

Aberdeen must wait to find out the identity of their semi-final opponents because Cowal and Bute were advised not to travel to Stirling for their match against Glasgow Mid-Argyll's second team due to swine flu in the Dunoon area.

That match will be arranged for a later date.

B&S team: L. Brindle, F. MacKintosh, E. McGregor, I. Knox, E. McNiven, S. Caird, J. Nicol, K. Deans, J. McWhirter, J. McGregor, K. Hamilton and L. Deans.
