IN the Balliemore Cup, the postponed first round tie between Lochcarron and Skye saw the islanders crash out 2-1 to an Ian Mackenzie extra time goal.

Sorley MacDonald scored for Skye and John Martin Philips equalised for Lochcarron in normal time.

In the quarter final ties, Kilmallie will be kicking themselves for losing to Kinlochshiel at Balmacara. Liam Macdonald gave them the lead. Then they had a penalty, but John Stewart fired over the bar and 'Shiel replied with two goals in three minutes from Gordon MacDonald to win the tie.

In the semi-final they will face Kilmory, who made the long trek to Caberfeidh, and despite trailing at half-time to a Lee Nicol goal, were handed the advantage when Cabers had Kirk Taylor sent off.

Calum McKinven equalised, then Steven Gilmour converted a penalty to give the visitors the 2-1 win.

Strathglass also claimed a semi-final place when they won 2-1 at Glasgow Mid Argyll. Ryan Stewart put the home side ahead but Lee Bain levelled and Mark MacLaughan grabbed the winner early in the second half.

Spare a thought, though, for new shinty side Lewis Camanachd, in only their second season, drawn against second team giants Fort William in the Strathdearn Cup.

Fort's forwards rattled in no less than 20 goals, with Ryan Campbell hitting five, four each for Stephen Mark and Ewan Campbell and a hat-trick for Danny Stewart on a fearsome afternoon for the Western Isles youngsters who could only manage a single goal from Alasdair Mackenzie.
