In the first half of the match at Spean Bridge, the Strath squad were shooting in to a bitterly cold wind and took 20 minutes to open the scoring when Jane Nicol fired from the edge of the box. Lochaber matched the visitors for possession in the early part of the match, but Kirsty Deans scored from long range after 26 minutes to secure a half time score of 2-0. In the second half, Badenoch and Strathspey took control of the match and, with the wind at their backs, quickly made the most of their possession. Karen Hamilton made it 3-0 from close range and Linzi Deans hit home a fourth goal a minute later to put the result beyond doubt.
After 46 minutes, Jeanette McGregor scored the goal of the game with a spectacular strike from the right wing and the match finished with three goals in the last ten minutes from Kirsty Deans, Jeanette McGregor and Elizabeth McGregor. The ladies clearly enjoyed the occasion and put in some strong performances during the game. Thier next match will be at home to Strathglass on April 12. Badenoch and Strathspey: Brindle, MacKintosh, McGregor, McGregor, K. Deans, Nicol, McNiven, Knox, Caird, Hamilton, L. Deans. |
